The Extremely Busy Thursday

Thursday is always the busiest day during the week.

0:30 Went to bed after preparing classes for the day

5:30 Waken up by the voices from outside, where my students were doing morning reading. The temperature must be below zero.

5:35 Went to sleep again.

7:00. The alarm clock ringed. Did not want to get up for it’s too cold.

7:10 Finally struggled up.

7:15 Found the stove gone out. No hot water.

7:20 Washed the face and teeth with the only cold water left. Combed the hair, making me look like a teacher. Check the slide fastener of the trousers…-_-|||

7:35 Cut wood outside to fire up the stove.

7:50 Felt much better sitting beside the warm stove.

7:55 Remembered the half of steamed bread (mantou) left yesterday. Toasted it on the fire.

8:00 Went to the outside toilet… So cold… The teeth fighting against each other.

8:10 Came back to my room, finding the mantou already charred…

8:15 Eating some cold pies together with milk powder…Drinking cold water….Getting more and more cold…

8:40 Waiting in line outside the water pump house to get water…Freezing…

9:00 Carried five barrels of water back with a shoulder pole—three for me and two for the public kitchen, 100kg altogether.

9:20 Presentation to Class No. 2.

10:05 Class over. Carried 50kg coals for the stove.

10:20 Presentation to Class No.1.

11:05 Class over. Preparing dinner for seven people. Three dishes.

12:15 Dinner time. Chatted with teammates. Someone disgusting complained about the dishes again, saying too salty. Some other one said not salty enough. Ignored them.

12:45 Dinner finished. Wiped the table. Washed the dishes. Poured wasted water to the toilet.

13:00 Went to the book room (not a real library actually) to find some reference books.

13:25 Came back. Take an instant nap.

13:45 Went out for some “shopping”, then came back with nothing.

14:00 Went to the “post office”. No mail or package.

14:05 Preparing the supplementary classes.

14:40 Supplementary class for Class No. 1.

15:35 Supplementary class for Class No. 2.

16:25 Preparing supper.

17:20 Dinner time. Someone complained again. Ignored him again.

17:50 Dinner finished. Wiped the table. Washed the dishes. Poured wasted water to the toilet.

18:00 Party branch meeting: Criticism and Self-criticism. Mr. Complaint complained that I was always complaining so much. No comments. Just ignored the words “ignore him”.

20:00 Meeting finished finally. Began to talk about management of the book room. No constructive advice from anyone—just argue or quarrel. “No complaint” in mind, no advices from me. Just kept silent.

21:30 Went back to my room. Washed clothes and socks with just one barrel of water—not to make it clean, just make me feel better.

22:00 Checked emails. Read some articles on BBS. Chatted with friends on MSN.

22:30 Reading a book: China, INC.

23:59 Phoned someone to say happy birthday to her.

0:00 The busy day finally finished. Another busy day already waiting for me.
